QuadTech 1865 Megohmmeter / IR Tester

The 1865 Megohmmeter/IR tester, with digital display, is used for high accuracy measurements of insulation resistance on a wide variety of components, materials and electronic devices. Resistance values greater than 100 teraohms can be measured with a basic accuracy.
of 0.5% at DC voltages up to 1000V. A programmable limit makes the unit ideal for pass/fail testing in a production environment and is also adaptable for use in automated system applications with its optional IEEE-488 interface.

Description

Precision Measurements: The 1865 provides resistance measurement capability from 1kΩ to 100TΩ (test voltage dependent) with a basic accuracy of 0.5%. To meet test requirements for a wide range of devices, the test voltage is fully programmable up to 1000V DC. Sensing the proper resistance measurement range is done automatically, thus eliminating setup errors; and in order to eliminate lead or fixture errors, the operator can easily initiate an automatic zeroing routine of test leads.

Pass/Fail Testing: Measured results are automatically compared to an operator programmed limit for pass/fail testing. Pass/Fail indicator lights or a pass/fail output from the instrument's I/O interface provide a clear indication of the measured results.

Program and Data Storage: Test setup conditions and measured results can be stored in instrument memory or on 3 1/2" disk when using the extended program storage option.

Automated Testing: For automated system applications, the instrument includes an I/O interface connection with remote start and pass/fail outputs. An optional IEEE-488 interface is also available which enables the 1865 to be used under computer control.

Current Display Mode: Besides a readout of insulation resistance in ohms, the operator can select a display mode for reading the measured current directly.

Safety Features: The 1865 provides safety features such as current limiting, a warning indicator when high voltage is active, and safety interlock, all for protection of the operator.

Component Test Fixture: An accessory fixture is available for use with the 1865 which accomodates a variety of component types, including radial, axial and chip components. It's shielded case reduces electrical noise and interference and includes a cover interlock switch and remote start for maximum operator safety.

The following options and accessories are available:

1865-01 - EEE Interface Option (factory installed)
Provides IEEE-488 (standard digital interface for programmable instruments) through 24 pin rear panel connector on the 1865. Interface is factory installed when ordered with the unit.
1865-02 - Data/Prog Storage Option (factory installed)
3 ½” disk drive (factory installed only) for storing test setup conditions and measured results on disk. Allows data to be transported to a PC for measurement analysis.
1865-03 - Rear Panel Input Opt (factory install)
Rear panel input option (+, -, ground & guard) for the 1865. Replaces the front panel connection.
1865-70 - IEEE Intf. Opt (1865, field retrofit)
Provides IEEE-488 (standard digital interface for programmable instruments) through 24 pin rear panel connector on the 1865. Interface can be retrofit in the field when added to the unit and some later time.
1865-50 - Rack Mount Kit (for 1865)
Rack mount kit contains dress panels and support hardware for adapting the 1865 to a standard 19” rack cabinet.
1865-51 - Shielded Lead Set (for 1865)
An optional shield lead set for 1865, with three coaxial cables, each terminated with sheathed banana plugs which mate with removable alligator clips (included). One meter in length.
1865-52 - Component Test Fixture (for 1865)
A fixture designed into a shielded case with hinged cover and interlock switch to reduce measurement errors and ensure operator safety. It includes a plug-in module for leaded components, another for surface mount devices, plus banana plug cables and alligator clips for connecting to a wide variety of components. A remote start and pass/fail indicators are located on the front panel.
